About the Vincent Bernard Lopez Memorial Foundation

The Vincent Bernard Lopez Memorial Foundation is an organization that seeks to provide a summer camp experience for young people and to support Ewing's Sarcoma Research.

Purpose
It is our intention to seek out individuals who would take great advantage of the incredible opportunity that a summer camp experience has to offer. Vince came to camp motivated to do his best in every activity he pursued. Throughout his time at Cheley, Vince achieved great success for both himself and the Cheley community. He was able to attend Cheley through the generosity of his aunt, Katherine Barnes, who was on staff as a cook.

In this spirit of giving, the Foundation will provide scholarships for individuals to attend a summer camp. These scholarships will provide assistance, whether financial or otherwise, to individuals who would not be able to attend a summer camp because of financial or economic barriers. 'Camperships' will be awarded based on an individual's existing, or developing, aptitude for the camp experience in program activities, leadership, and overall character.

The second purpose of the V.B.L.M. Foundation is to support research specifically for Ewing's Sarcoma. While undergoing treatment in Houston, Vince expressed concern regarding the decreasing amount of research for his type of cancer due to its malevolent nature. Every year a donation will be given to a cancer research organization whose focus is finding a cure for Ewing's Sarcoma. By providing funding for specific research organizations we hope to help find a cure for a terrible disease.
